It’s Episode 2 of my Container Gardening Series, and today we’re starting one of my favorite things to grow, peppers and determinate tomatoes!
There is just something so special about planting out seedlings you started yourself and then walking into your backyard to pick fresh tomatoes and peppers for dinner. This year, since my raised beds are dedicated to cut flowers for my roadside stand, all of our vegetables are going into containers and I am so excited to prove that you can still grow a TON of food in a small space.
I’m using my Bootstrap Farmer Ultimate Backyard Bundle to get these seeds started. Having sturdy trays and quality supplies makes such a difference during seed starting season, especially when you’re juggling a busy schedule and just want things to WORK.

I started my peppers earlier in feb. I grow king og the north, yum yum mix, and nadapeno. Nadapeno is from bakers creek it is a jalapeno without the heat.
Started 11 tomato varieties yesterday. I will also start 2 more that are the new direct seed tomatoes.burpee developed them.
2 of my favorite small tomatoes are fantastico which is a determinent grape tomato, and sun sugar a cherry tomatoes with great sweetness.
Being Italian-American, I can't imagine not eating tomatoes – lol! Do you like cooked tomatoes, like in tomato sauce and pizza? Used a seed snail made of a strip of bubble wrap to start tomatoes and peppers. First time using seed snails and am not a fan – too fiddly to roll them up. Tomatoes are sprouting nicely but the peppers are doing nothing so far. Do your peppers take longer to sprout?
I love your videos! But I have to ask, where is the recipe?
So, i normally just do the basics Roma and yellow cherry. But tHis year I'm trying a new bite size pepper called Biquinho brazilian pepper. have you see them before? Can't wait,,,🎉
QUESTION on hollyhocks, my 1st time this year. I have them starting jn raisedbed with veggies. Should I move them to their own pots because these get wide and tall. Will they compete with veggies plants? 😮
