The countdown is officially on for popular Italian-inspired restaurant Olive Garden’s Canadian expansion in the Greater Toronto Area.

Now that the signs have been installed for the upcoming location at Vaughan Mills shopping centre, it’s time to get ready for the restaurant’s iconic endless soup, salad and bread sticks.

“We’re excited to bring Olive Garden to Vaughan later this year,” the restaurant stated online.

And according to the mall, Olive Garden will launch there this summer. Located at 1 Bass Pro Mills Dr., it will be situated near entry one.

Now, as we wait to dig into the menu, the restaurant is looking to hire a team to work at the upcoming location. Those interested in applying can scan the QR code at Vaughan Mills, keep their eyes on Olive Garden’s website or visit the government of Canada’s job bank online.

However, this won’t be the only location coming to the area. Another Olive Garden is set to open in Ajax. Plus, a third eatery is slotted for Ottawa’s Westboro neighbourhood.

The upcoming restaurants follow the acquisition of all eight existing Olive Garden locations in Western Canada by Recipe Restaurant Group International, Canada’s largest full-service restaurant company. It includes the execution of a national development agreement with Darden Restaurants.

And with more locations in “various stages of planning as Recipe continues to build a long-term, sustainable development pipeline across the country,” the initial launches mark an “important milestone in growing Olive Garden’s presence beyond Western Canada.”

“With these upcoming openings, we’re taking an important step in expanding Olive Garden’s footprint into new Canadian markets,” said Frank Hennessey, chief executive officer at Recipe.

“This expansion reflects our confidence in the brand, the strength of our partnership with Darden and our ability to execute thoughtfully and strategically across Canada.”

Throughout Canada, along with its international presence in the United States and the Middle East, Recipe has nearly 1,100 restaurants. Its portfolio of brands includes Swiss Chalet, Harvey’s, Montana’s, Kelseys Original Roadhouse, New York Fries, The Burger’s Priest, The Pickle Barrel and, of course, Olive Garden — which has been around since 1982.

And according to Yianni Fountas, chief operating officer of Olive Garden Canada at Recipe, “these new restaurants will welcome guests like family, delivering the consistency and value that guests expect from Olive Garden, while establishing a strong foundation for the brand’s continued growth in Canada.”
