Nannyberry viburnum has started leafing out red leaves?
The internet says it's some environmental stress because the leaves should be green. It's been getting rain lately; could it be just leftover distress from the crazy winter we had?
although I’m not familiar with this plant in particular, many plants’ early leaves contain chemicals to prevent browse and frost damage, making them red or purple

About half my plants in my yard right now are red instead of green! It’s this weird spring, going from 22 to 80 this week.

How long have you had yours planted ? I planted two small sapling 5 years ago , they are pretty big maybe 5’tall but never bloomed yet 🧐 i am wondering when they start blooming ? I planted viburnum Dentatum and they bloomed right away even small .

[This article](https://www.npr.org/2025/11/05/nx-s1-5599152/why-do-leaves-turn-red-fall-foliage-autumn) talks about why some leaves turn red in the fall. Maybe there is some information in there that can be extrapolated for the spring time. Perhaps the chlorophyll hasn’t come in yet for some reason
