Hi fellow garden redditors. I know that this isn’t necessarily the right forum for this, but will you please indulge me for a few moments. I really need to get over myself and remember it’s just a garden and I can build something similar in our new house, but I am sad to be saying goodbye. I just wanted to share some pictures as none of my friends really get gardening.
Picture one is what it looks like today, just waking up for spring
Picture two is it in the height of summer
Picture three is the photo I took when we first moved in
Although I am excited about our next moves, my heart is breaking a little today as tomorrow, our house goes on the market. I have spent five years turning this garden from a square of lawn into my personal haven and it’s ridiculous but I am going to miss it so much.
I started this garden as a way of coping with my Mum’s terminal illness (and subsequent death). It felt good to be bringing (plant) life into the world when everything else was a bit bleak.
Has anyone else had to say goodbye to their beloved garden? Any tips on what to do, or not to do?
Thank you!

Wow that’s gorgeous. Lift it all up in one piece and take it all with you? Somehow…
Can I say, what a beautiful space ☺️.
You should be proud, and yes you will shed a tear leaving it….. but someone is going to love that garden ….. and when you get to your new garden you will enjoy employing all your creative energy creating a new space .
We took most of the younger plants and trees with us and took cuttings of everything else. 😂 It makes it feel like a bit of home came with us especially now it’s all starting to bloom. Once you start getting stuck in in the new garden you’ll soon find plenty to take your mind off missing the old one!
Someone is going to move into a house with a beautiful garden. You have done a wonderful job creating this OP, you should be so proud of what you’ve achieved! When the time comes good luck with your move and new garden, hope all goes well for you. 😊
