B&M customers are rushing to snap up a selection of affordable plants that are priced at just £5 each. With spring finally looming, lots of people are focusing their attention on their gardens and outdoor spaces, eager to enjy them while the warmer weather sticks around.

If you’re fortunate enough to have a garden, giving it a spruce with some fresh flowers and plants can help ensure it’s a much more pleasant and appealing space to relax in after a lengthy, demanding day at work.

Gardening, while therapeutic for many, can be time-consuming and costly – but B&M’s budget-friendly flowers are proving to be hugely popular among customers.

The hit retailer is stocking a variety of hydrangeas for £5 each. On TikTok, content creator Liv, who posts online under the name Liv Loves, posted a video detailing how to care for the low cost flowers.

In the clip, she wanders through a B&M and garden centre shop to find the flowers. Providing commentary via narration, she explained: “If you bought the £5 hydrangeas from B&M and you don’t know how to make them thrive, here’s what you need to know.

“They love a partial sunny, shady location; the soil you use can actually change their colour; they need acidic, ericaceous compost; you can grow them in a pot – just make sure it’s big enough and make sure you give them a good feed.”

In the comments section, fellow TikTok users were eager to share their thoughts. One person said: “I brought 4 of the white ones yesterday and planted them in my garden today.”

Another said: “Heading there today! So excited!”

A third commented: “Ooh I want to go to B&M.”

One shopper, who had difficulty locating the affordable plants, said: “I’m dying, I need to know which B&Ms are doing these. I’ve been to multiple and I can’t find them.”

To which, Liv replied: “It’s the B&Ms with garden centres, not all of them have one – have a look at the store finder.”

Someone else added: “Got some this morning thank you.”

Retailer B&M, where the budget hydrangeas are being sold, is a familiar presence on the British high street thanks to its wide variety of products from food and drinks to homeware accessories and gardening supplies.

It was established by Malcolm Billington and Brian Mayman, with the first store launching in Cleveleys, Lancashire, back in 1978. Its now well-known name derives from its founders, though it was originally called Billington and Mayman before being abbreviated to B&M.

Since its establishment in the 70s, it has expanded and now operates more than 750 stores in the UK, as well as over 120 stores in France.
