same light, same soil medium, same watering and feeding. only difference was it deteriorated after being re potted (well, that and seasonal change from fall to winter). one leaf and stem has steadily died off one after the other til this skeletal guy is all that's left. thriving picture is from August, hell scape pictures from today. roots are not rotten. corm looks…. normal. routinely inspected for bugs, never had any. any chance of recovery

  1. *Note* it is NOT too dried out, and I haven’t overwatered it, either. I have others that I treat the same and are doing brilliantly.

It definitely can grow leaves even in this state. If the stem part under the soil is still intact, it most likely will grew if cared for. I would put it in a smaller pot and with perlite only and place it warm, if possible under a dome or in a small greenhouse to keep the humidity high

Yes, it should if you’re correct in your assumption that it’s a combo of repot stress and the off season, roots and rhizome still intact, it’s just waiting for optimal growing conditions (more heat, humidity and longer photoperiod) to kick back into growing gear.

yes alocasia can always come back if the rhizome is still intact. i’d recommend potting into a clear nursery pot instead of straight into ceramic. this’ll help you see the roots and dirt and know when to water it.
