The second annual Garden in a Box program is now open for spring, sponsored by three community agencies, for citizens to order professionally designed, low-water use garden kits tailor-made for Colorado yards.

The program promoting the water-wise garden kits is sponsored by the city of Steamboat Springs, Mount Werner Water and Sanitation District, and Western Resilience Center. The program aligns with water conservation strategies that promote efficient water use. The do-it-yourself planning kits include quart-sized perennial plants, plant-by-number maps, seasonal maintenance suggestions and watering schedule recommendations.

Online ordering is available at ResourceCentral.org/gardens/shop, with pickup scheduled for 5-7 p.m. June 9 at the Howelsen Rodeo Grounds parking lot in Steamboat Springs. The kits start at $50 and cover 60-100 square feet. The first 50 local residents to order will receive a $25 discount.
