  1. 1 – The bucket and or water line has to be higher than the plants for gravity and capillary action to work… water can climb to about 5" higher than the water line…

2 – This will less likely to work in dry air areas like the desert…

3 – You can modify this for water drip method by drilling holes at the bottom of the bucket tight enough for the rope to go though for a controlled drip of water…

Good idea, but it is not efficient as it is shown right now…

  3. So funny how ppl claim to find great solutions that don’t work.EDIT: It worked indeed but the bucket has to be positioned higher than the plantpots. 😂important detail.

  4. We need to look at the big picture here. Small experiments that are successful at home deserve investment, because ideas like these usher in an era of disruption, growth and opportunities

  5. Yes this technique works well BUT you must use the proper substrate so you do not end up over watering. Your better off putting the wicks into the bottom of your pot and sit your pot just above your nutrient water mix which will slowly soak the bottom half of your pot which is what you want so your roots will grow down to the food properly instead if roots growing upwards. You must use coco coir with perlite or similar substrate. Regular soil does not allow good air flow to the roots. For regular soil take some straws, poke holes in them and poke them into your soil leaving straw tops exposed above the soil so air can travel down the straw thru the Lil holes to get the needed air to your roots.
