A cadre of quirky and colossal “TROLLS” have trundled into the Golden State in recent years, with a few fantastical figures visiting South Coast Botanic Garden a few years back.

A spunky and sizable critter named Lulu Hyggelig has also set up permanent residency at the California Nature Art Museum in Solvang.

Now a whole big bunch of beautiful and strange creatures are on view at South Coast Botanic Garden — and by “whole big bunch” we do mean a dozen — and they’re making a home around the expansive 87-acre plot through early October.

These are some of the famous sculptures created by Danish artist Thomas Dambo, and they’ll be on view through Oct. 4.

Sustainability is an ongoing and urgent focus for these fantastical figures, and a devotion to nature; these ideas can be found flitting through each Troll in a variety of whimsical and meaningful ways.

“TROLLS: A Field Study” is now open at the Palos Verdes Peninsula destination, and viewing the artworks, which are created from reclaimed materials, is included with your garden admission.

“This is our second time hosting of Thomas Dambo’s exhibits, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome more Trolls to our 87 acres and for them to inspire curiosity to guests of all ages,” says Adrienne Nakashima, the CEO of South Coast Botanic Garden.

“Just like they are here to learn more about us in their ‘Field Study,’ we’re sure you want to learn more about them, so we’re hosting guided Troll Treks on Saturdays and Sundays for guests to get to know each of the Trolls”

Check out some of these genial giants now and learn more about Trolls’ engaging and ecological-minded mission.
