How to plant peonies from bare root? Here’s your step by step EASY guide! #peony
If your peonies ghost you every spring… it’s not them, it’s how you planted them 🌸 Shallow holes and full sun are all peonies need to bloom. Save this before planting season sneaks up 🌿
My mom had the whole yard growing peonies when I was growing up. Probably 50 plants. Please note when you see them covered in ants, don’t try to kill the ants! I’ve been told the ants are beneficial to the plant. After she moved, I think every one in the area came and got plants. Because they all disappeared. And they did flourish for about 50 years while mom was there and caring for them. When they bloomed she would take the flowers and dress the alters in our Catholic Church. They were beautiful. She had pink, red and white blooms.
Small roots with less than 3 eyes may not bloom that season. Peonies are a true mature person/adult/grown wo(man) plant. It’s an investment…in patience and time. Source bare root peonies from reputable breeders or search specifically for bare root peonies with 7-8 eyes.
I'd say the hardest perennial to kill is Canada Thistle. Comfrey might be a close 2nd, but at least comfrey is useful and pretty and good for making compost.
No wonder my peonies never grow. I plant it the way the directions say but its different from what this lady says. Mine always died. Thank you for this.
When I lived in Bellvue Tennessee, I grew Peonies. However, I moved back home to Texas, zone 9a, and CANNOT grow Peonies. They're the most beautiful flower in the world. ❤❤

Thank you!!!! I made a mistake and destroyed so many of them…
And you will have permanent ants. They love peonies.
These only grow in cold climates. They need a freeze to do well.

My favorite flower. Can't believe I didn't know about the horizontal planting!
Can they grow okay in central florida? I love them but worried they wont do well in Orllando area
I knew a girl when I was teen that used to "pee on her knees" , seriously… Her mother told her ladies don't squat…
I have personally killed every one I planted!
They just Don’t live in Texas zone 8
Thanks
Sadly it seems to be too hot to grow them here. Loved them when we lived further north. Houston TX is the wrong climate. 😭

My favorites. Pray for no rainstorms while they're blooming.
