It’s already sprouting back. Give it a other week then prune it hard. Remove all the dead, cut out weak stems, remove branches that are growing into the center.

That looks like cotton root rot fungus did it. ( Sudden death, nearby plants surviving, copper colored leaves clinging to dead branches, etc.)
It’s in the soil and may be for years. A high acid fertilizer may help protect the surviving bush. Replace this with root rot resistant plants. I learned this the hard way!
