Monty Don has delighted viewers with exclusive glimpses from behind the scenes of Gardeners’ World filming, as the programme prepares to return within days.

Following the show’s customary three-month winter hiatus, Monty is set to grace our television screens once more alongside Adam Frost, as they share practical gardening advice and showcase their latest garden transformations.

In anticipation of the new series, scheduled to broadcast this Friday (March 13) at 8pm, Monty joined Tuesday’s (March 10) Morning Live programme via video link with presenters Helen Skelton and Gethin Jones, reports the Mirror.

It’s evident that Monty is already immersed in production, with a film crew capturing his work on location. Gethin observed: “So you’re actually just about to film for the new series today.

While standing in his own garden, Longmeadow, located in Irvington, Herefordshire, Monty explained: “We started filming last week and so we have already been filming for about half an hour this morning and the new series is very much under way.”

He added: “What we’re filming today, we’ll go out next Friday. There’s a programme all lined up ready to go out this Friday and we’re in now. We’re in right through to the end of October.”

Offering a preview of what audiences can anticipate from the upcoming series, he continued: “Well program one, we had some lovely weather for that, which is not like today. I cleared the grass borders and I planted raspberries.”

He added: “All the daffodils are starting to come out and just that scene of spring really kicking in and beginning. There are lots of jobs to do in the garden.

“We’ve sown seeds and like I said we cleared the grass borders, which is a big job.”

Monty went on to say: “We join Adam and his new garden. He’s got a new garden and he’s transforming, so one of our leading designers, as well as a great television presenter.

“So we’ll be following that throughout the year. And generally, just getting back to grips with a garden, getting our hands dirty, getting stuck in.”

Monty’s faithful companion Ned also made a brief cameo, with the presenter noting: “He’s very happy to pose in front of the camera. He has filmed from day one since he was a puppy and he’s always with me.

“If we are filming he is there and he’s never known anything else. He loves it, he loves the crew, he sees everyone and rushes out and it’s all a part of his day job.”

Gardeners’ World will return Friday (March 13) night at 8pm and BBC Morning Live airs weekdays from 9:30am on BBC One and iPlayer
