I moved i to my house last year, I’m in the south east of England, the garden had a patch of these poppies, as a complete garden novice i had never seen any like this before, they were very large, the size of a clenched fist and very deep red colour. Much nicer than your usual road side poppy.

I left them to seed and they confusingly tried to come back up in December but it seems the cold weather got them. I want to know what they are so i can sow some more incase they got killed off and don’t shoot in the coming months.

    Looks like P.somniferum / peony flowered or opium poppy. One of the annual kind.

    They self seed after they flower and become a bulb. Annual otherwise
