A week or two ago, the buds were barely visible and now this, at least 30 year old, Mountain Laurel is bursting with grape bubblegum-scented blossoms that assault my senses when I walk out the front door. Since we don’t get to enjoy them nearly long enough, I want to bring some inside. It has proven impossible for me to do. I can tell you this, the bees in this neighborhood are not to be trifled with right now.🐝

Shit I just walk through the bees and huff it from the source like Crack. I’m pretty sure the bees understand the sentiment cause they just ignore me every time.

  2. Look closely at what bees go to it. I’ve seen a lot of the beautiful blue orchard bees on mountain laurel blooms over the years

Just move slowly, and the bees will ignore you. Be not concerned.

Regular honey bees are really only defensive in a radius of about 2 yards from their hive. They’ll also generally give you warning headbutts if they want you to buzz off. Remember they die if they sting you and they don’t want to die for no reason. Just walk calmly and don’t swat at them and they’ll not bother you.
