Two branches of the St. Johns County Public Library System now have free Seed Libraries.

The system’s first seed collection was established in 2019 at the Southeast Branch, 6670 S. U.S. 1; the new site is at the Main Library, 1960 N. Ponce de Leon Blvd., both in St. Augustine.

The collections feature locally sourced and heirloom seeds that rotate seasonally. Patrons can donate seeds and take seeds to grow at home.

The project’s partners are St. Augustine Amphitheatre, Edible Northeast Florida and Maritime Creative.

“Having these resources available at the library makes them accessible for a wide variety of gardeners with locally adapted seeds from St. Johns County,” said Katie Provow, the amphitheater’s senior farmers market manager.
