Well done. Drip irrigation is pretty good at saving water when combined with covering the ground to prevent evaporation like you have. Handy for us now going into possible water restrictions.
Also, for those of you suffering from extremely dry ground, where the water simply flows over the top surface layer, and you can only get maybe the top surface wet, nothing soaking down. Figure out the direction the water flows over your land, and water the highest point of your land lightly for a minute or two, then wait a minute or two, and repeat the process. Treat your land like a sponge that you're trying to fill by pouring water on only one corner. On a slopped area of land it's possible to construct a natural flow that will simply harvest/capture any water passing through your land storing it underground like a battery. Handy when you can't water the entire garden unrestricted.
