If your blueberry bush isn’t thriving, the soil is likely the problem! Blueberries need a very specific acidic environment to absorb nutrients, and most garden soil just won’t cut it.

In this video, I’ll show you how to fix that for good. Using just four 1-gallon pots as our simple measuring tool, you can create a perfectly balanced mix of 50% peat moss, 25% compost, and 25% mini pine bark nuggets, with a boost from 1/4 cup of cottonseed meal. This mix is a game-changer, ensuring your blueberry bush gets the nutrients it needs to produce a huge harvest for years to come.

  1. You are awesome. Thank you for how you share your knowledge so I can understand how to nurture my plants and garden. 😊

  2. That's a solid mix for a higher acidic loving plants, rose's etc. I love to put a healthy amount of perlite only because it grows that beautiful green algae naturally and fights that acidity that kills my roots.

  3. So:
    2 containers peat = 25% + 25% = 50%
1 container mini pine bark nuggets = 25%
    1 container compost = 25%
    TOTAL: 100%

How much of the cottonseed meal do we use?

  4. You are so good at explaining things can you tell me why the fertilizer would not do better if it was equal parts of all 3? I always think I am going to throw things off if I don't give equal parts…I live in TX where the water and ground is allowing

  5. Do you ever have nitrogen lockout with your plants by adding wood chips? Or is it in such a small percentage that it's not affected. Love your vids!

  6. Hi! I’m mark from Santa Barbara, ca. I just found you on YouTube. Where are you located in Georgia? You’ve given me a wealth of info and I appreciate it very much.

  7. Would it be ok to use mushroom compost in the soil mix as longg as its 6-1-1? Do you grow cannabis? I have a bunch of seeds I need to grow
BTW, i did my first compost box ever yday during our heatwave yday. Lol

  8. Good knowledge. Was wondering what other methods of aeration there are, perlite aside. Was doing pumice, but it's expensive and there's a waitlist! 😂

  9. Digging in the dirt and planting food and plants is so therapeutic to me. Jus being outdoors and in the Sun is not enough. Bring on the soil for my soul.🖤✊🏾🏴🤎🌍☀️🏁

  10. Greetings from Turkey, have you heard of the John Sue compost method? I make compost that matures in one year using pine bark and leaves, along with some green grass. The pH is low and fungal dominance is high, the kind blueberries love. 50% peat moss, 40% this compost I make, and 10% leonardite (high in humic acid and organic matter) is similar to what you make, but imagine you're composting pine bark. The large pieces don't break down, but the leaves, grass, and small pieces form a humus-rich structure, and the pH stays low.

  11. Great! to see you again. It's getting to be that time of year again😂❤
What is your name& what State are you located .I'm in central Tx.Alot of heat, but I do my best with the heat& small area.

  12. You said 'low acidity' but I know you meant high acidity. The acidic numbers on the pH scale are 1-6.9, which is the lowest numbers on the scale. I know what You meant but felt the need to clarify for anyone confused. A 1 on the pH scale is more acidic than a 6.

  13. I bought a few Top Hat blueberry bushes which are smaller bushes, and I'm going to grown in containers on my patio. Should I use this same blend? No potting soil? Thanks!
