Stock up on spring gardening favorites this weekend at the Jefferson County Master Gardeners vegetable plant sale.

Master Gardener Paul Lemoine said the group expects to have about 1,700 tomato plants available, representing 15 different varieties. The sale also will include about 500 pepper plants across about 10 varieties, along with 15 different herbs. There also will be some eggplants and a few other items, but tomatoes and peppers will be the main focus.

Master Gardeners will be on site to answer questions about planting, care, harvesting and how to protect plants during a late cold snap.

The spring vegetable sale is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 7 at the Jefferson Count Master Gardeners demonstration garden (4995 Jerry Ware Drive), near the Jack Brooks Regional Airport.

For more information, Lemoine said residents can reach the group through Facebook, or by calling the agriculture extension office in Beaumont at 409-835-8461.
