BROWN COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) – The Gardeners Club of Green Bay has received a $1,000 grant from the Canary Fund to support the Duck Creek Quarry Park Garden Beautification project.

The grant application was a collaborative effort involving the Village of Howard as landowner, volunteer garden caretakers Ken and Judy Sikora, and the Gardeners Club of Green Bay.

The club has designated the project as its three-year civic initiative focused on the enhancement and long-term sustainability of Quarry Park Gardens.

How the grant will be used

Grant funds will be used to add pollinator plants and install educational signage for trail users.

The improvements are intended to complement recent trail connectivity enhancements, including a planned connection of the Velp Avenue Trail to Duck Creek Quarry Park Trail via Glendale Avenue and its link to the Mountain Bay Trail.

About the garden

Quarry Park Gardens was established by Ken and Judy Sikora during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Sikoras continue to serve as its primary stewards, contributing personal time and resources to maintain the garden.

The site benefits from donations and volunteer support.
