I bought some preserved reindeer moss to make these little lamps. It felt very moist so I put some in the dehydrator until very dry. I'm wondering how necessary this is since after more research, I see the glycerin keeps it very well. Would it mold in this environment closed off over time? Is it necessary to completely dehydrate it completely? Definitely makes it harder to work with, but I would like them to be able to last years.I have silica beads underneath to absorb any potential excess.

They are already preserved, last for a very long time.
At university I saw botany classmates use lyophilizers to freeze dry specimens then they would airbrush them with a safe preservative. That’s the only way I know of to maintain the “freshly foraged from the woods look” while nearly eliminating molding risks.
