*TL;DR:* Grevillea crithmifolia creates a bed of compost under it, and turns sand into soil.
My soil used to be dead and lifeless, just like yours! But I'm here today as proof that your soil CAN change.
I hear you ask, "what was it thatturned my (soil) life around?" I could tell you, but first you must surrender yourself to the good word of *Grevillea crithmifolia*.
My garden was barren due to a combo of harsh sun and 99% sand soil… until we finally accepted our tubestock saviour, Grevillea crithmifolia (aka. green carpet) into our lives. Every aspect of our lives improved since that day.
GC acts as a living mulch AND local compost generator, because it drops HEAPS of super-fine leaf litter directly underneath its fronds… but it grows so densely that the leaf litter never blows away…. in other words, it creates its own compost pile!
I just gave ours a chainsaw prune (to keep it off the road; first pic). The moment i saw it had turned sand into compost, knew i needed to spread the good word.
p.s. it's flowers smell like sweaty feet, so win-win!
