Got a $25 auger bit for my drill and it has saved me so much time in turning and preseasoning my beds. They had a much larger one but due to budget, garden size, and general amateurness in my gardening skills I went with a smaller size. does anybody else use one of these?

    Unnecessary and destroying soil structure.

PSA: Just be careful because your wrist will twist to bits if you go fast and it snags on a rock!

You don’t know, what you don’t know.

I just flat out stopped tilling cause I’m old and it’s time consuming.

Everything grows the same if not better.

I was a big tiller before but it seems to not make a difference.

I’ve used a brush attachment on a power drill and it’s not a good idea. First, i don’t have the cross bar handle. Second if you hit something and debris flies into your eye you’re gonna regret it

how about using a small spade so you can use your foot to step on the shovel blade?

Because you didn’t want to low key liquify the earth worms? 🪱

You’re not doing your soil any favours…

Just keep a loose grip on it, if you hit a rock or root it quickly transforms into the WristSnapper 5000

That’s what they call Yes Till farming I suppose.

That soil looks pretty soft with no clay.

Gonna show this to my husband 😂

You’re just ruining the soil doing that

I use it planting perennials for the first time and fruit trees. I have the large one that goes rather deep.

I plant a TON of dahlias every year, and before I had one of these, it was an onerous task. Now? So easy!! Totally worth it!

Oh wow. I am going to look for one of those now.

That’s how I made the holes for my tulips in the fall. We have rocky soil so it takes a bit.

My soil is too dense (clay) and that thing wouldn’t even make a dent.

I use one for when I plant garlic, lots and lots of garlic. Makes my hole depth uniform and generally makes my life easier that day.

I found a 20v electric tiller on Amazon that is compatible with my dewalt batteries. Looks like a string trimmer had a baby with a tiller. Works really good on our raised beds. A little heavy and works best being pulled towards you, but it digs deep into loose soil and breaks everything up good. I used a drill auger like that to put some fence posts in the ground and it will try to break your wrist if you his a root or a rock.
