@broskiy77 its a farm animal water trough. Available in numerous sizes at most big box farm suppliers like Fleet Farm, Farm & Fleet, Tractor Supply, etc
I love this method but Iāve heard that filling the bottom with sticks, leaves, or log causes the soils ph to skew off and raise the nitrogen levels as they break down. Can anyone confirm this?
Also, attach your bag attachment to your lawn mower and then put your grass clippings in there too. Mow up all your Leaf clippings after you've done your bushes and your Golden.
Is it best to do this in the fall, after final harvest? I ask because I wanna do this, but I've already established some vegetables along the sides of our house (space is very limited for gardening where I live) so doing so now is clearly out of the question.
This is good, but instead I put stones of various sizes in the bottom, on top of the cardboard, and then followed with mulch (wood chips that have been composting for a year or so) and then topsoil. So far so good!
I donāt understand why adding cardboard would help with weeds? Wouldnāt weeds not grow anyway if you have 2 feet of sticks, leaves, compost and soil on top?

Where did you buy the surround?
Add local worms since they won't be able to come up easily through the bottom layer of cardboard for a long time.

Our backyard has lot of stones can i still do this way ?
Yes. Branches and not big logs. Logs take too long to decompose.
Keep in mind over time your soil will go down. Probably by 1/2 bc the wood and leaves below will all break down and get smaller.
As you layer…also wet down each layer
I use small sticks not real big ones and then leaves, little straw, and then my topsoil and compost

What size is that bin?
Love this idea ā¤n using grass clippings n old coffee grounds are good to add to the soil also!
Gopher? How to keep them out???
