Coast redwood I collected 6 years ago I collected it with my father who’s no longer here I am so glad to get it out of a pond basket any advice on the way forward would be greatly appreciated.

    I would say you have a good structure in terms of primary branching, but you lack an apex. I would pick one (or two, I could see this become a double trunk) branch and wire it upwards, then let it run free and thicken it up.

    Other than that, I’m not familiar with this species but I guess regular clip and grow with some wiring to develop pads.

    Looks like great material, looking forward to its growth.

    I think at this phase your trunk is set with good taper, bit of luck your roots are also solid but I can’t really tell. I’d say work on primary branch structure and surface roots. Other comment also made a good point about lack of clear apex. But that’s my beginner insights, best advice I can give is listen to the more experienced folks haha.
