Welcome to a calm and hopeful early spring at the new allotment 🌱
In this vlog, we’re stepping into a brand new year and taking on a new plot that was, quite honestly, covered in rubbish… and beginning the gentle process of clearing, dreaming, and imagining what it might become. There’s something so special about this time of year (after what has felt like a very long winter) when the garden is just starting to wake, and everything feels full of quiet possibility.

✨ What’s inside this vlog:
· Seeing our new allotment for the very first time… the reality, the rubbish, and all that potential 🌿
· A gentle tidy and clear, uncovering the soil beneath it all
· Chatting about plans, hopes, and what we might grow this season 🌱
· Noticing the first subtle signs that spring is on its way
· A little wander around Kate’s small garden at home, where things are slowly beginning again 🌷
· And of course, our usual cosy rambly catch up at the end ☕

If you love Gardening, allotment life, slow seasonal living, and finding joy in simple outdoor moments, we’d be so happy to have you along for this new beginning.

  1. Have you looked into elecroculture, using copper to draw in ether to make your plants grow huge?

In the Netherlans we have alottments but often you have to do horid compulsatory chores with the other allotment holders and there are loafs of rules. I had to give up my allotment, the negativity was too much. Are you free to do whatever you want without strings attached?

  2. When we were kids, we ate a lot of strawberry rhubarb jam, so it's not a surprise that I love making stewed rhubarb with any type of berry. I love it warm with a splash of cream. I will put lots of rhubarb berry mixes in the freezer to enjoy over Winter. You are so lucky to be able to get out in your gardens this early: sadly I have to wait a couple of months yet. Take care.

  3. I grow at least 50 dahlias a year- be sure not to water the tubers until you see green growth or you risk them rotting. Good luck!

  4. It just occured to me that you are using the term eggplant instead of aubergine. Is that for the benefit of your North American viewers or is the terminology changing in the UK?

  5. I saw my first butterfly of the year today! A yellow one. I was as excited as you Kate with your first bee. 💚 Could you both make a video in which you tell about yourself please? What work you do, your ages and where you live? I would love ❤ that!! Thank you Fleur and Kate for all of your lovely videos! 💋💋From the Netherlands

  6. My grandmother always made a rhubarb sauce that we had on ice cream or toast. Made mother also made wonderful strawberry rhubarb pie❤

  7. I just planted my dahlia corms today, in pots. Will stay on my kitchen windowsill until after the last frost when I will plant them outside in the ground. I do them like this every year, and theyre always great.

  8. You guys are just such a delightful part of my day every time you post. I love this channel best of all.

  9. A slow worm is a headless lizard, not a snake. Love that you have an allotment. When I visited the U K a few years back I really loved walking in the allotment behind the house where we were staying and talking to the people working in their spaces.

  10. So nice to see things growing again after a very wet and gloomy winter. Love seeing you at the lotty and now we have another lotty to watch through the seasons. Also your garden is looking great. Love this channel bring on more please.🧡🧡
