My friend randomly dropped this gear on me. So I decided to set it up and see what I could do. Haven’t had an indoor garden in years, and have never done hydroponics of any sort.

Everyone keeps telling me not to put to much water in the buckets. I put 3gal of water in each bucket. Does that seem like enough? The waterline looks to be between 1-2” lower than the bottom of the basket.

3 gal in a 5 gal bucket is adequate, it’s what I did when I was using 5 gals for mixed herbs. plan on how you’ll do rez changes, for this style of bucket it could be a bother, I used to have them myself but a different brand. I ended up using a small liquid-transfer pump, much easier.

personally not a big fan of drip feeders in DWC. I used to use one, and it only caused me problems; root rot starting at the basket, roots finding their way up the tube, and oversaturation issues. when starting from seed or transplanting seedlings, I would water it manually (using the rez water) until the roots reached the water line. YMMV though, I’ve seen people use them without issue before.

I also recommend putting the air pump outside the tent, may require you to redo the tubing, but it’ll drop the rez temp about 3-4+ degrees on average.

looks like a good setup. hydro is super rewarding, happy growing 🙂
