My brother gave me a plant he had forgotten about for years, is this a pothos plant? And if so, can I/should I prune the large leafless vine? (The singular leaf is a part of a new growth, and this vine doesn’t seem to be doing any good)

Golden Pothos by the look of it! I would chop and prop the naked vine and once it starts to show secondary roots I would plant it right in w that lonely leaf !

Cut the vine just above the remaining leaf. Within a few weeks you should see new growth (probably closer to one week, but it’ll depend on conditions). You can try to propagate the bare vine, but without leaves it’ll take longer and the success rate is lower.
General care: give it a good soak when the soil is 80% dry, allowing the excess to drain out. A nursery pot inside a decorative pot makes this much easier. If you’re unsure whether to water/ how much to water, err on the side of underwatering. They bounce back easily if they dry out, but they’re very susceptible to root rot if overwatered.
That spot looks good in terms of light. They’re marketed as ‘low light’ plants but they love the sunshine as long as they’re properly acclimated! The more light they receive, the faster they’ll grow.
Congrats on the new friend!🌱

Yes a very “leggy” golden it looks like. Like the others have said, just cut the naked vine off and you should see new growth soon!

Swirl the stem around the soil and put a plastic bag over it for humidity and water it when fully dry. Each node on the stem with contact of the soil will root into it and hopefully activate multiple nodes. Good luck!
