hi everyone, i would like to compost this pile of chopped spruce from my tree.
it is already warm/hot inside and smoking.
but its quite alot, and i would like have ready to use compost at the end of this year.
is it possible? any recommendations?

I would bet thats going to take awhile to break down.
If theres identifiable chunks of foliage / branches, its too big.
Also, spruce has tons of stuff in the sap that inhibits microbial growth.
Your best bet is to either add this to an existing pile with lots of greens, or just use it as mulch.
Buy and add some EM1. But if it’s hot…it’s working, it just might take a while. Personally, I’d be adding some soil for the microbes and water retaining qualities.
