This video is a review of gardening in my raised bed over the past 4 years. In this video, I will briefly discuss how I built a 20’x3’x22″ raised bed over clay soil in my central Texas backyard. Most of the video is reviewing my harvests over the years and plans for the future.

I’ve really enjoyed this raised bed for my backyard gardening projects here in the suburbs of Austin Texas. We are located in Zone 8b/9a, so we get hard freezes around 20F and long hot summers over 100F where this garden bed is useful year round.

The materials I used for this project are as follows –

104 feet of 2×12 Pine Boards
16 feet of 4×4 Cedar posts
    80 Wood Fasteners
3.7 cu.yd. of Raised Bed Soil
    1 cu.yd. of Granite

Some of the things I’ve grown in this garden bed include tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, eggplant, cilantro, dill, basil, romaine lettuce, jalapeños, habaneros, radishes, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, red onions, green onions, cabbage, tulips, sunflowers, purslane, and assorted ornamentals for pollinators.
