Is this a crack in my tree and is it a concern?

Apologies if this post violates the norms of this subreddit but my wife noticed this seem in the bark of our Oak tree and is concerned it's a crack that could penetrate into the wood. I was hoping anyone could tell me if I should be concerned as the tree is close enough to the house that it could cause damage if the limb were to fall towards the house.
