I use my moisturizer meter a lot and while I don't "need" it, it makes my life easier. At 69 years wise, I have a magnifying glass for other reasons, but it is useful in my plant hobby too. Agree with you on the gloves and watering bottles, I wouldn't use them. I have a label maker for other reasons too, not just plants, so I wouldn't go out and buy one just for them. I bring most of my 100+ plants to the sink to water from a used gallon water jug, but when a plant gets too big to do that, i will use one of the watering cans in my watering can collection, lol. I do use a large bowl to bottom water my orchids and to water my air plants.I would probably use a scoop if I had one, maybe I will purchase one. Oh yes, pruning shears are a must have for me! I use a plastic trashbag (unopened) as a potting mat, works well for me. And again I have them on hand for trash anyway. I use clips for orchid blooms and to attach hoyas to hoops, so yes I could not do without those
I like my moisture meter, even though I use a chunky mix mostly and you can see when it hits pockets of air, if you’re aware of that then it’s perfect. Also, for my big babies I can’t put my finger down 6-10 inches into the soil this is my most used thing.
It’s a total preference tho. I’ve got 4 cause I’m always leaving them on shelves behind plants everywhere and can never find them lol too funny I have those watering leaves as well to water plants deep into shelves I can’t reach the can all the way in, or with succulents you don’t want to water the foliage, just to get it onto the soil underneath.. at least, that was the idea…. They’re in a box right now lol bought a jewellers loupe to see bugs, haven’t used it yet, use my microfibre gloves for a couple weeks, then not again, the little nozzle bottle I use for my props, received a free label maker, use it, I wrote labels with sharpie for my whole collection and they all faded, so label maker is helping
But we don’t NEED any of it, lol
No, you’re right about the watering cans, I’ve got one big guy and one smaller that pours out perfectly, I get it
30 degrees is too much? We’ve had averages of 35-45 here in Canada
I’ve never understood why people have tubs in their sink, I thought maybe they couldn’t find a plug for the drain? Or?
I use those scoops too, one in each amendment and soil bins, pruners I use too, otherwise I’m constantly washing our kitchen scissors lol
Same, before I got a potting station, I used my potting mat all de time
Def use the Velcro tape, but the orchid / vine clips are my fav to attach smaller plants and/or vines to a moss pole, trellis etc
I need a better humidifier
Great vid! Sorry for the pages and pages of comment! I’m terrible for that lol
It's not crazy at all. I have an ugly water can with a nice small spout to get into the plant between the leaves so I don't flood my floor. I received a cute one that looks like a snail, I hate it. The opening is large and funky-shaped, it runs down the neck and floods everywhere. We get it 🤣🚰🪴
great video 🙂 you made me realise how much crap i have accumulated over the years lol.. great eye opener. keep up the great vids 🙂
You can find resin or hard plastic chopsticks 🥢
I live in Alaska and in the winter (which is most of the year) our humidity is pretty much non existent. I have 2 of those exact humidifiers and love them so much. Had them 3 years now and they still work perfectly.
I use my moisture meter every time I water. Just helps me when I second guess. And with a dedicated plant room, I'm glad I don't need a humidifier.
Yes to having a good set of snips/pruners! 😉
In the UK we call them secateurs
A mini propergation box
Sorry this might be an odd question since your bio says you're from Belgium but you seem to have a slight Australian or South African accent. I was just wondering if I was right or if im imagining things.
I use the moisture meter. However, I learned a hard/sad lesson when I used it on plants with rhizomes, where I ended up puncturing them, leading to an emergency rescue.
I used to have a moisture meter. It worked well for denser growing media, but it actually led to overwatering issues in coarser media, because it would give false readings. I now use clear nursery pots, and sporadically a small wooden stake to gauge soil moisture.
I also used to have microfibre gloves, but could not use them due to sensory issues. It felt like a thousand bugs were crawling around on my hands when I had those on.
I recently purchased a 3 L watering can with a long narrow spout for precision watering. It also fits the design of my home. It's very important to me that everyday objects also look nice. If they don't match my aesthetic, it leads to visual clutter, overstimulation, and even autistic meltdowns. I'm also a complete klutz with the eyesight of a mole, so I need to be able to get the spout deep into the pot to avoid getting the leaves, myself, the floor, and on occasion my cat, wet. I also don't like having to refill my watering can often when I'm in the zone.
I have one of those scoops you use in black. I love that scoop. Again, it allows for better precision work.
I love my black canvas water proof potting mat I got from PLNTS. It's sturdy, easy to clean, neither too big nor too small, and the sides stay upright! I used to have one from Amazon that was a bit more flimsy, causing the sides to collapse and making the repot messier than it needed to be.
I have a small humidifier that I love, as it doesn't make any annoying sounds. I had to return at least five or six because the noise drove me crazy.
Clear pots, can't live without them, and a soldering iron to make holes in said pots.
