Hi all, I’ve had this calathea about 8 months, it wasn’t doing good for a while but has really turned a corner. All the old leaves died and some new ones shot up but now nothing since last year. It’s kept from direct sunlight, filtered water only and I use a moisture meter to ensure it’s not too wet or dry. I’ve also checked the roots and don’t see signs of root bound. Anything I can do to get it growing again? It’s currently summer where I’m located.

Last photo is what it looked like a few weeks after buying

  1. It would help to have more info about care routine, but just based on the pic it looks like it needs a bigger pot.

I have a large one of this variety (Calathea illustris) and it likely does need a bigger pot. Mine was stuck with no new growth till I put it in a pot about 3” bigger in diameter and then it started to really take off. They have tubers that form on the roots so it can be deceptively full.

  3. I think it looks better now than it did in that earlier pic! Do you fertilize?
