I followed the directions and have had great luck. It comes with everything you need except water and electricity so that’s nice. We’ve had 3 salads so far from the top rack and a few burgers and taco nights which I started 2.5 weeks before the bottom.
Top rack is all waldmann’s dark green except two dark seeded Simpsons. Bottom is red oak leaf, salad bowl and rocket arugula. The arugula failed 4/7 but everting else is thriving. Should’ve thinned them but I consider this can be my stubborn learning lesson.
I used the fertilizer it comes with and Crystal brand distilled water. Didn’t even check the pH even tho I also bought a $135 pen haha
The pumps make a hum that can be annoying but my wife doesn’t say anything about it. It lives in the dining room/kitchen area but can’t hear it at all at night. When I hear it I at least know it’s working.
The light timing system is a little lame , where you can’t set the start time. It’s when you turn it on and then uses that start time from there. The sleep mode is nice. I can turn the lights out earlier and they come back on schedule the next morning. The outside edges seem to not really do well. Center of light obviously grows the strongest.
Overall, I’d buy the bigger version and do it again. I love it.
