i bought this calathea a year ago (shown in fourth picture) and it did not survive! there were only few leaves left which was not healthy (shown in the last picture) too but i did not give up. i sprayed some pesticide and maintained its humidity and did so many things so that it would produce foe me and so months later it started growing leaves one by one. i now have 4 – 5 new batch of leaves but they're all short and not as long when i newly go them. those new leaves are slowly having crispy edges with some discolouration as per in the third picture. someone please tell me what am i doing wrong and do i have to do anyhting else to keep them healthy? pls advise

Are you using tap water or distilled water?

New growth is going to be considerably smaller than older leaves.

Be patient. My ornata did this too. They can take a long time to acclimate, and often it is dramatic and looks awful. Switching to less hard water can help, though I still use regular tap water on some of mine.

In time, the new leaves will get larger and more resistant to crisping on the edge. It is going through the last stages of acclimating. Keep going; you are almost across the finish line with your plant.

My office calathea has crispy edges too, so I brought it home & put it in my bathroom. I’m hoping the humidity helps.
