Do you think any of these ideas will work to expand your own garden? Let me know below. (btw I always call morning glories petunias by mistake!)
Great tips! I have a small courtyard garden in the back. In that space, I've trained an akebia vine and a climbing rose to grow over trellises attached to my house. It creates a green, living wall between 6-10 feet high. Everyone loves it, and it makes me really happy. I live in SLC, where our dry climate prevents the vine from growing out of control or my shingles from rotting.
Thanks for great ideas
Wonderful ideas
Great ideas… All of these elements add so much interest to a garden! For all the plants I’ve grown over the years, the structural elements have given my garden the most impact.
I had a wood arbor put up when I bought my home 20+ years ago. I loved it and had a rambling heirloom rose trailing on it. But after many years, we had a very bad storm come in (60 +MPH winds) and the Arbor came down and was broken beyond repair. But I have been wanting to get a metal one. Maybe this Spring! I collect large coffee table size Gardening and decorating books too! I will also be putting up an Old Mirror in my garden. I have Bunny statues already (I love rabbits!) Thank you, Kathy. You have given me some good ideas.
This is such a great idea and there are so many cute ways to do it. I have a space in my garden called my “narrow vegetable garden” and it’s only 3 feet wide. I placed nursery pots down with tomato cages going up and I grow all sorts of things vertically. Thanks for this awesome video! 😊😊😊 Liz in California
Thanks for always including beautiful examples from your own garden or from various places and especially gardening books. The visuals are helpful and inspiring. Appreciate all the effort you put into your well thought out presentations that get right to the point. 🙂
I put up lattice and am growing potatoe vine for privacy from my very close neighbors. And now working on more structures and plants to go up vertically in my small flat garden 🙂 Thank you for sharing these great ideas!! God bless 💚🌿💚
Wonderful tips! I do have 2 trellises in front that provide some vertical help plus an ugly chain link fence I cover in morning glories and moon flowers in the summer plus I hook some planters on too. You have a beautiful elegant style vs my informal cottage style but I still learn so much from your videos. Those morning glories in that picture were amazing!
Lots of great tips lady. I love having trellises, arbors and obelisk in my garden. I found a beautiful white bed frame near my boys apartment complex. I’ve had it for several years and I’ve attached it with t-post. It now houses one of my roses I love. Spray paint in the garden is my friend for taking what’s old and making it look new or just giving something a refresh. Tfs
Great ideas!
Great video! Going vertical gives you more space and interest. What more could you ask for?
I'm very curious to know if you painted black your metal tubs that your citrus is growing in? If so, please share how you did it! I have galvanized veg tubs and I love growing in them but I don't like the galvanized color. Painting them black would help them disappear.
Thanks for the lovely ideas. I too find new ideas when I look through my old books and magazines.
Save money, build your own they are very easy
Wonderful ideas!
I have three trellises but never have had an arbor. Even tho I have an acre yard I can’t figure out where would be a good spot to place one. It’s on my list for sure!
