Can the Pothos live and grow in wather or do I have to plant it in soil someday?

If you get hydroponic fertiliser they can live in water full time. I use “GT Foliage Focus” as it’s what’s available where I live.

I recommend checking out the subs r/hydroponics and r/semihydro for more info.

I know you didn’t ask about this, but your pothos is a pretty leggy. The gaps between the leaves indicate it is receiving insufficient light. I recommend chopping it up and propagating each leaf in water, then making sure they all get more significantly more light.

It can last a very long time in water but once in a while you’ll need to fertilize the water since there are no nutrients in water. Also as the roots get longer and thicker you’ll need a bigger container or cut the roots back if you keep it in the same jar or they get very tangled and slimy green which will lead to rot.
