Hello im just reaching out to ask some questions and get some tips on how to care for my Oncidium Orchid? I've never had one before and am just curious how often I should water and how to tell if the plant needs water? I noticed it does have two small accordion leaves (thats what ive seen them called) but I they are so small I cant tell if they are recent growth or from a while ago. I really want to do right by this plant and would hate for it to suffer if I cant give it the water it needs 🙂

Getting the timing right for oncidium watering is tricky. They don’t want to completely dry out, but they also don’t want to be wet all the time. The easiest way I’ve found to judge is to touch the moss it’s in. If it feels wet, don’t water. If it’s pliable but not wet or cold to the touch, that’s about when you want to water again. If it’s crunchy you waited too long.
