Oreophila I picked up from Mike wang last year is starting to grow its first pitchers of the year. It was starting to throw pitchers up early last month and a couple seem to have opened prematurely? They’re only a few inches tall and the fully open one hasn’t seem to grow and get the mature lid shape after weeks of being open.

Anything wrong or is it just being weird due to our crazy warm winter this year?

Bonus flava also from Mike

idk if this is a thing across all sarracenia but my purpurea will sometimes throw up random, stunted pitchers after a warm winter. the main growth afterwards seems to always be fine though?

  2. Oreo makes early pitchers like flava and then looks like dog shit from July-February. This is pretty typical for them. If you are in zone 9 or 10 then this isn’t that abnormal. They don’t look premature to me, just like smaller pitchers.

also looks like an offset which would explain the smaller pitchers. Your main rhizome seems to be just waking up

  4. Looks like business are usual for oreophila to me. Fill those two small traps with some maxsea or a few osmocote pellets and send it into hyper drive
