MADISON, (WKOW) — The Gray Garden and Green Living Expo, hosted by PBS Wisconsin, took place from Friday through Sunday.

The event promoted gardening, landscaping, local food culture, and ecological responsibility. The three-day event aimed to “Cultivate a Love of Gardening and Sustainable Living” and offered 150 educational presentations. It featured an exhibitor mall, floral design competitions, and the PBS KIDS Backyard family area.

Amanda Balistreri, expo manager, described several features available to visitors.

“So today, I’m super excited. We have a farmer’s market with over 20 local vendors. We have tons of stage demonstrations, educational seminars. We have meet Dean meet and greets with Daniel Tiger. We have our amazing, bustling vendor Mall.” Balistreri said.

Balistreri explained the event’s appeal, noting,

“One of the things I think is February Wisconsin. I mean, last week’s weather a mess, and so it’s just kind of like a breath of fresh air.”

She added that attendance appeared strong. “We did have a record breaking Friday, and yesterday was really strong too,” Balistreri said.

Balistreri encouraged community involvement.
