When it comes to gardening, no-one wants to spend hours pulling out weeds – but there’s one tool that might be a solution. Shoppers are praising a weed puller for its extraction capabilities and for ‘saving (their) back’ from bending.
The Walensee Weed Puller is currently available from Amazon for £29.99. Listed as an Amazon’s Choice product, and with more than 50 bought in the past month, this is a ‘standup weeding tool’ that claims to provide a better gardening experience.
The 39″ tall handle lets users uproot the weeds without having to bend over or kneel, reducing strain or back pain, and the foot pedal allows for enough force to ‘penetrate the ground and grab the whole weed, including the roots’, the site says. It also has a pointed three-claw design which is suitable for different soil types, with the 2.75″ steel teeth long enough to uproot grass roots.
This weed removing tool is made from durable stainless high-strength steel, making it long-lasting. To use it, gardeners should simply stay standing up, push the tines into the roots of the weeds/flower/grass, let the tines grasp the grass roots, tilt to one side and pull out the weed and release the grass. The brand says the tool is workable for crabgrass, thistle, tap root, crab grass, taproot, plantain, clover, burdock, bush and more.
As an alternative, shoppers could buy this Gardena Weed Puller from Argos for £40. The site says the product’s steel blades are ‘narrow and close together’, making them ‘ideal for extracting dandelions without leaving large holes’. It also has an ergonomic handle and an integrated release mechanism which lets users discard pulled weeds without bending.
Or there’s the Steel Weed Puller from B&Q, available for £12.99. This is said to ‘make it easy’ to remove dandelions, thistles and other invasive weeds from the garden, and it will aerate the soil for a healthy lawn without damaging it.
Back to the Walensee Weed Puller, shoppers have written positively about the tool, leaving an average 4.3 out of five-star rating across more than 11,000 reviews. One said: “This is without a doubt my best ever Amazon purchase, maybe my best purchase ever. It is so quick and easy to remove weeds, it removes even big thick, deeply embedded roots in seconds. My garden has been overrun with weeds and within an hour they were all gone!”
A second said: “Works great, managed to get all the dandelions out of the three lawns in one day. Brilliant.” While a third wrote: “Hoped it would save my back. What a fantastic tool. I am still wondering why I did not get one years ago.”
Others left some criticism, with one writing as part of a longer review: “It really is brilliant, and highly recommended. You won’t be disappointed. Not to be used on gravel though as the stones will get stuck in between the prongs. It’s meant for the lawn.”
Another said: “Works really well on the big weeds, a little more hit and miss on the smaller ones as it seems to be better when it has more to grab on to, but you just let them grow a bit first before you pull them! As others said, it does leave quite big holes but you can fill them in. Really easy to use and saves your back!”
