Talk with 350+ experts, stroll through feature gardens and more at the Des Moines Home + Garden show now – Sunday at the EMC Expo Center | Paid Content
The Des Moines Home + Garden Show officially kicks off its 48th year today at the Iowa Events Center, and Iowa Live is there to give you a first look at the trends and experts transforming Iowa homes in 2026. Running from February 12–15, this year’s show features more than 350 exhibitors, stunning display gardens, and a heavy-hitting celebrity guest, Craig Conover.
Bentley Ridge Tree Farm & Nursery is the expert behind the stunning floral entrance to the show, a Valentine’s Day heart with live plants! If you’re planning a spring project, Jimmy Juergens, Sales Manager at Bentley Ridge, has the knowledge to ensure your garden thrives year after year.
Before you visit their booth, keep these pro-tips in mind.
Plan for 10-Year Growth: Overcrowding is a common mistake; consider how large your trees and shrubs will be in a decade, not just on planting day. Know Your Drainage: Avoid evergreens in areas with heavy water flow and opt for moisture-tolerant varieties instead. Remove the Stakes: Don’t leave tree stakes on for more than a year; trees need to adapt to the wind to develop strong, deep roots.
