Alabama Extension’s Allyson Shabel, Extension Agent – Home Grounds is offering “Seed Starting for the Vegetable Garden Workshop” February 20 and 26th, one workshop is offered in Morgan County, and the other in Lawrence County. Shabel has offered a similar class the past several years, and it fills up fast wherever the location.

Both workshops will have participants learning how to start seeds for a summer vegetable garden. Each participant will leave with a tray of seeds with 11 different varieties of tomatoes, peppers, herbs and pollinator plants for their vegetable garden (approx.100 total plants). Varieties were chosen because of their high productivity and great taste. Learn what you need to know to grow them indoors and how to transplant them into your garden in the spring.

The workshop fee is $30 and covers all the materials provided. Registration and payment is online.

The February 20 workshop is being offered at the Morgan County Ag Center, 3120 Alabama 36, Hartselle, AL 35640.

The February 26 workshop is being offered at the Oakville Indian Mounds, 1219 County Road 187, Danville, AL 35619.
