Each winter my rubber tree drops multiple bottom leaves after they abruptly yellow. Anything I can do to prevent this or overall inspire more growth? It’s in a sunn spot, regular watering and annual fertilizer.
I can tell you that yellowing leaves on a rubber tree (Ficus elastica) during winter are usually caused by overwatering or reduced light in colder months these plants enter a semi-dormant state and require less water you should only water when the top 2–3 inches of soil are dry to avoid wet feet and potential root rot moving it closer to a bright east-facing window can also help it photosynthesize better during the shorter winter days

This is my rubber tree… it is huge. The previous owner would plant house plants in the yard (my house is 76 yrs old. It drops leaves in the winter. Not a bunch compared to my persimmon and plum but definitely more than my citrus. You can see how many leaves its dropped this week. My gardener comes on Thursdays.. so thats 6 days. We are already having spring weather.. my plum is in full bloom. It will start new growth soon.
