MSP investigating Garden Township house explosion

GARDEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Michigan State Police (MSP) Gladstone Post is investigating the cause of a house explosion in Garden Township.
On February 9, at approximately 9:24 p.m., troopers responded to a report of a loud explosion. The initial information received did not provide a specific address. Troopers searched the surrounding area and were able to locate a damaged home on 18.5 Lane.
The homeowners were not home at the time of the explosion, and no injuries were reported by anyone else. Several neighboring homes sustained damage because of the explosion.
A preliminary investigation indicates the explosion may have been caused by a propane leak inside the residence that ignited. The investigation remains ongoing.
MSP Gladstone was assisted by the MSP Aviation Unit and the Garden Township Fire Department.
