They are installing fiber optics and digging in the easement near my house and in my yard. There is a pine tree is the easement and I saw a big trench they are digging where they have cut into the roots of the tree. I’m worried because this tree is tall enough that if it fell in the direction on my house it would cause a lot of damage. Please see the four photos attached. Should I be concerned? Thanks for any advice

You’re going to want to get a certified arborist out there to make a report and file a complaint with the local jurisdiction. That tree will never be the same… if it lives.

City when you want to deal with a dangerous tree on your private property that has a bunch of other trees: Don’t you dare!

City when it’s time to destroy a bunch of healthy trees for utilities or their mere convenience: well please do!

And since they destroyed all of the roots on the road side, it’s falling towards the houses when it fails.

They should have gone through the proper channels and cut it before the work. Now they’ve destabilized it and possibly created a hazard. Notify the City and the Contractors.

If it’s in the easement it’s fair games hate to say. In my city redid some sewer and water and new street. They cut down every tree in the boulevards. Reason was so when you pulled up to an intersection would have a clear view from both directions. What choice do you have you have city property But people plant trees on them.
