What ideas do you have for this bit of land?

There is a row of oak trees here with TPOs.

every autumn/winter the leaf fall kills the grass.

I have tried to make it work every year as you can see in the photos but every autumn it is killed off.

do you have any ideas what else we could plant or do with this space?
