Coached by Natalie Mata, the Menehune wahine are seeded No. 2 in the Division II bracket and are scheduled to meet No. 3 Pearl City High School, IF the Menehune survive the semifinals that started play on Friday after press deadlines.
Coached by Kevin Cram, the Warrior boys soccer, also seeded No. 2 in the Division II bracket, advanced to the semifinals behind a 9-1 win over Waipahu on Thursday at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex on Oahu. In that match, Kapaa’s Kerry Hunter had a hat trick, or three goals scored, Devin Andrews marked two goals, and the victory was clinched behind goals from Kekainalu Geer, Aaden Aquias, Isaiah Noguchi and Kingston Anakalea.
Pine Aiden had the sole goal for Waipahu.
In other quarterfinal action, Hawaii Preparatory Academy upset the No. 3 seed Seabury Hall, 4-1 to face Kapaa in the semifinals on Friday.
Kapaa needs to better HPA to advance to the DII championships that will play today, starting at 5 p.m. at the WPSC Main Stadium on Oahu. They will face either No. 1 seed Kamehameha Schools-Hawaii Island, or No. 5 seed Saint Louis — whoever survived the Friday semifinals.
