I got such joy from this last portion of this morning's video. Seeing the evergreen screen through the window of your studio's back door. You've really transformed that newer section of property. I remember when your neighbors RV was back there, lol.
Great work GA team! ❤
I'm so jealous! My Helen von Stein lamb's ear doesn't bloom! It must really like your area! I just bought a little variegated purple African violet. I was hoping you'd share the name of yours. Mine is a double and is Apache Redcoats.
Being around the chicken coop reminds me of your sweet pallet walkway. Another one would look cute over by the pole barn.
It was amazing to hear the birds singing in the background you planting it feels like spring already🎉💚💚💚💚💚👍
I carry a 6×9 foot tarp with me and rake leaves and pine needles on it gather the corners and can transport them like that or lift in truck bed and dump out.
An old English rhyme about Magpies (seeing a single magpie is thought unlucky):
One for sorrow, two for joy, three for a girl and four for a boy, five for silver, six for gold and seven for a secret never to be told.
👏👌
I’m excited to see how you revamp the back of the chicken coop.
Something I think could be fun for the kids and also very nice for a garden this big, is huts made out of live willow branches from the ground. it is a very common thing here in Denmark, where we weave fences, huts and arches out of live willow and it can become such a cozy spot for the kids to play and also be very pretty in the big garden beds.
Good Morning! 🌞 I enjoy going along on these winter projects! Samantha is so cute, both Benjamin & Samantha are growing up so much! 🌲🌿
I sure do love seeing the kids playing outside! I wish I could turn back time to when my kids were younger 🥲I miss the little people they used to be😢 I am wishing it was warmer here so I could get out into the garden😌 I usually get excited to start my seed starting this time of the year but I am not really feeling the desire to do it this year 😔 hopefully I will get motivated to get into my potting shed soon!
Your kids are perfect. I will send you $3.00 if you move the chicken 🐔 coop to behind the barn.
Watching you dig lambs ear and thinking about all the sunny spaces you have to put it – it occurs to me to wonder if you’d ever want a little woodland garden walk somewhere on your property? Someplace where you intentionally plant deciduous trees close together with the idea that you’d have a little shady walk planted up with woodland kind of things, maybe including spring ephemerals. Of course, I’ve never experienced your high desert, so maybe that would not be a thing.
Good morning! You really need to plant even in the cold. I just want to huddle in the warmth of house & blankets. I guess I’m not a true gardener! But I am looking forward to Spring.
My dad would root prune the tree 🌳 & then stake it to make it upright again. Less stress on the trunk. It looks way better around the crabapple now. It’s fun to transplant & divide.
I love everything on your property but this area always bothered me. So glad you cleaned it out and please relocate all 3 hibiscuses to the dirtlands where they can thrive and you can enjoy their beauty! Maybe it's because you have such a formal garden right next to it that makes everything in this area seem to be too big and too much shoved in a tiny spot. Looking forward to the transformation.
Watching you out in the garden transplanting, makes me so envious when we have 2 feet of snow and arctic chill. Can’t wait to get out in the garden and see all the new growth and bulbs.
Hi good morning ☀️ have great day 🪴🌱🏡
That spruce is gorgeous!
Love cleaning without being speed up. 🎍 So relaxing. 🪷
❤great job Laura….love seeing the children 😊
You can add all those leaves to the chicken run. They love to dig in them and will have them all broken down within weeks. Then when you clean out the run you can use it as compost on your garden.
I wanna be your friend
Out of curiosity, why don't you shred the leaves and leave them in place to mulch?
Ewww, I bet your chickens would love to be scratching around in those leaves!
Ohh…hh. That actually lifted the area's formal look. I wish I could be there, you could have enjoyed a free labor for a day. I recall I doing same projects in my garden. The Juniper and Leyland Cyprus area is also looking phenomenal. Were you sore after the Juniper clean-up?
Can’t wait to see how the chicken coop area is going to look this summer with out the lambs ear. The spruce tree is so gorgeous and huge. Love seeing Benjamin and Samantha outside with you playing
Good morning Laura, when you were cleaning up around the chicken coop. It made me think how I so have to make sure everything is clean in my gardens. I have slugs and snails The garden center I go to told me to do that. Especially around hostas. We all have our different things don't we. I don't deal with aphids like you guys do. Love your videos ❤
The chicken coop area has always been a favorite. But things change, and I love to watch your transformation!
Hi Laura ~ Have you ever heard of the "Lens" app for phones? You point it at a plant and it will identify it or give you a list of possible matches. It might help you ID the Boxwood. {I just love the Lamb's Ear and would love to find a space to plant it.}
That tree planter never ceases to amaze!!
Still under a couple of inches of frozen snow. The roads are terrible here. Watching you clean up and transplant things has me yearning for Spring so much!
Gorgeous spruce! There was water dripping off the pointed end/s of the digging spade as they were planting the tree. Do you know if the spade has water lines to run water into the hole as they plant, or was that just residual water from when they dug up the tree?
The tree is gorgeous ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The little African Violet is beautiful, I may have picked up one or two last weekend 😊
The tree, ❤️, I love as I have said over and over again . The way they deliver a huge tree is still like a dream . It will never get old.
The space you created last video was amazing, then today training the crab apple and clearing out the lambs ear, it already feels like your in spring 😊. On the other hand in the UK we are on our 12 th day of rain very few dry bits and the 10 day is the same rain 😮. Everywhere is over watered to the point you can’t really do much .
Take care xx xx xx 💐
Laura if you move the high biscuit it won’t damage it? How are the chickens in their in close run? Thank you for your guidance
Curious – at the very end, is that a 'camera' in the upper ceiling corner or surround sound? Wondering if there is a problem with curious individuals who think they can make your things, their things? Ugh.
We currently have 15 inches of snow and predicted windchill in the minus 20s. I am so looking forward to spring.
Love , love how you share your info. When replanting African Violets you can use the wicking method. Works well.
Why can we straighten the crabapple but not the Apple tree?? 🤔
❤❤❤❤ DOUGLAS big & fluffy and RUSSEL on the bench watching!!
I love all of the new evergreens! Beautiful
Firewitch dianthus would work really good in this area!
That area is going to look great revamped. …Yay for Samanthas shot.
It's so nice to see ground and clear skies while we on the east are buried in snow🌺🌺
I have always been confused about avoiding getting African violet leaves wet when watering them. How do the plants in their native habitats handle normal rainfall? Do the leaves normally look bad in the wild?
Have your neighbors ever mentioned anything about the new evergreen trees? I can imagine going to work and coming home and how beautiful to randomly have a 30 year old tree now in your view. Like the matrix glitched 😉
That chicken coop area is looking good, excited to see what with you do with it this season!! The tree looks so much better straightened. It's a beauty and with the right low underplanting it will really shine❤ Loved Samantha coming along she is such a sweetheart!! Miss my kids at that age.
So I bought those 2 piece African Violet pots around a year ago,
My plants are thriving now.
