  1. My artichokes are anarchists.I have 4 decent size heads on one plant 2 days ago in Cornwall, near sea.

  2. Great primer for calculating how much of each crop to grow! You might want to do a follow up video on how to use these numbers to prioritize crops when you have limited time or space and have to pick. Once you know your likely portion requirements and therefore plant numbers per crop, you can rank the plants that are most important to you. I love potatoes and I love globe artichoke, but in the space where I can grow one artichoke, I can grow two potato plants and get a LOT more harvest in terms of calories and portions. If you have a good chart or way to help people compare crops in this framework, it's something really challenging for a lot of backyard gardeners. We get excited and plant asparagus, only to realize later that the space we're dedicating to that lovely perennial, giving it compost, pulling the weeds… is basically not giving us much food for our efforts. The portion calculation is a great starting place for this evaluation.

  3. Sorry Huw, the word 'planning' makes my heart freeze. I'm a bung it in and it's got two chances. Most of my stuff gets eaten by slugs, snails and pigeons

  4. This is amazing! I'm the head cook for our country school district. For the last year I've been trying to convince those in charge that a school garden and greenhouse is a positive and necessary investment. This will help me nail down costs and production even more. ❤
