Geoje Botanical Garden will host a series of Lunar New Year experience programs during the 2026 Seollal holiday, inviting families to spend the festive period surrounded by nature.
The holiday events run from February 14 to February 18 across the botanical garden grounds and are designed to appeal to visitors of all ages.
Traditional games, hands-on activities, and one-day classes will be offered throughout the period, creating a relaxed alternative to indoor holiday plans.
Notably, the garden will remain open on Lunar New Year’s Day itself this year, allowing visitors to drop by at their convenience during the holiday break.
In the open area in front of the Plant Culture Center, traditional Korean games such as jegichagi, tuho, spinning tops, and yutnori will be available throughout the day. A traditional games challenge will also be held twice daily, at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., with small gifts awarded to participants who successfully complete the activities.
Additional programs include a wish tree experience made with preserved moss, where visitors can write down their hopes for the new year, as well as a gardening session that allows participants to plant and take home their own companion plants.
On February 14, the garden will also host a one-day class focused on making a herb and fruit cake, adding a seasonal touch to the Lunar New Year atmosphere. The class operates by advance reservation only, with on-site payment, and organizers ask participants to book carefully to ensure smooth preparation of materials.
Located in Geoje, the botanical garden’s Lunar New Year programs offer a low-key, family-friendly option for those looking to combine holiday traditions with time outdoors.
